Southern hospitality meets cutting edge art at the 21C Museum Art Hotel in Louisville. Within easy walking distance of the Ohio River, this hotel offers superbly comfortable rooms, easy access to tourist sites and the CBD, a great bar and a terrific restaurant, Proof on Main, at affordable prices. The service is exemplary with genuine southern hospitality. The contemporary art collection is spread over 2,700 square metres, with art everywhere, especially where you least expect it. And it changes regularly, so there’s always something to discover.

I particularly like the restaurant, Proof on Main. It’s a bright space with large, photographic murals on the walls, which change regularly. The food is excellent, echoing local produce and Tuscan flavour influences. They serve bison burgers (the meat is from their own bison herd), which, apart from being interesting, tastes terrific and the chef knows how to present unusual cuts like skirt steak and beef cheek. I loved this place and if you’re in Louisville this is where I’d eat and stay.
