Riverview Lodge
Nambucca Heads on
the NSW North Coast is a holidaymakers’ paradise with plenty of outdoor
activities and stunning scenery. For a bit of fun you can hire a tinnie and
lose yourself in one of the estuaries with a fishing rod or simply read a book
on deserted, nearby Forster Beach.
The Riverview Lodge
is a charming old two-storey house, on the river. It was, in fact, the town’s
first hotel built at a time when there was no road access and all the guests,
and goods, arrived by boat. It is now tastefully restored and very comfortable,
offering 8 rooms, 3 of which have lovely views over the water, at affordable
prices.
Accommodation is
offered on a B&B basis, but a better option on Sundays is to drive a few
minutes up the hill to ‘Restaurant On the Edge’. Perched on a headland
overlooking the main surfing beach, this casual space at the edge of Nambucca
State Forest used to be a kiosk servicing the beach crowd, but is now a
60-seater restaurant serving fabulous food with friendly service. They do great
Sunday brunch and dinner Wednesday – Saturday.
