Sydney, 1st August 2001: The Foodie internet site, Australian Gourmet Pages, has presented its Restaurant of the Year Award for this year to Chef/Co-owner Janni Kyritsis and his team from MG Garage in Surry Hills. AGP founder Franz Scheurer made the presentation at TowBar to Janni and his staff late this afternoon.
“Our ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award acknowledges excellence in food
and service”, said Mr Scheurer. “The standard set for the first two
years by our inaugural winner, Cheong Liew from Grange Restaurant in the
Adelaide Hilton, followed, the year after, by Tim Pak Poy of Claude's Restaurant
in Sydney was very high. There is no one in Australia more deserving
of the recognition this year than Janni and his team”.
