With its modern, white walls, wooden floor and simple décor, this is not your typical Lebanese restaurant, although they insist, they are serving traditional Lebanese fare. Licensed and discouraging BYO they offer à-la-carte or banquet style dining. Full marks for offering a large variety of vegetarian dishes, including vegetarian banquets.
The Baba Ganouj is good with just the right amount of smokiness, although I personally prefer it coarser. The Homous on the other hand, is rather coarse and rustic, but the pickles make up for it. Meat pies, Spinach pies and Green Beans are good, as are the Lamb Kebabs and Lamb Kofta. The Kibbeh is excellent. Very thin shells hide succulent lamb mince in an architectural impossibility. Great taste meets fabulous texture. Unfortunately the potatoes and the stuffed vine and cabbage leaves are far to sour. The amount of lemon in these dishes will instantly fix any holes in your socks! Either no one tastes the food before it is served or we are dealing with an exceptionally sour palate.
It’s refreshing to see that all the juices are made fresh on the premises and are great value for money. The food, however, isn’t such good value. I also object to the Sunday Holiday Surcharge. The wine list isn’t good enough to discourage BYO and the service, albeit friendly, is rather slow.
