Nicholson River Winery
The Nicholson River Winery is a small pioneering vineyard in East Gippsland, near Bairnsdale. It is 3km off the Princess Highway; 3 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne. It was established in 1978 by Ken and Juliet Eckersley and is slowly growing to reach 8 ha.
Some 50 to 200 cases of ten different wines are made and sold cellar door and mail order each year. The wines are distinctive and rarely reach the retail trade outside the Gippsland area. Some are exported.  Chardonnay, Riesling and Semillon are barrel fermented and aged in French oak for up to a year. They are called the "gold" wines. The reds, Cabernet-Merlot, Pinot Noir and Shiraz are made traditionally and aged in oak for 18 months or more.
For the past 8 years the Chardonnays have been my own personal favourite Australian white wine.

Curly Flat Vineyard is situated in the Macedon Ranges, arguably the coolest  viticulture region in Australia, which is only 75km north of Melbourne. The vineyard is 575 m above sea-level and produces quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Phillip Moraghan, Curly Flat's wine-maker and owner, is best described as a passionate perfectionist aiming to produce superb Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and, drinking his wines you'll realise immediately, that he succeeds admirably.

.BLOODWOOD.

Bloodwood is synonymous with quality wine and food of the rapidly emerging Orange Region. Rhonda and Stephen Doyle planted the pioneering wine grape vineyard of the area in the Spring of 1983. Although there had been no previous experience with commercial wine grapes in the district, these first Merlot Noir vines they planted thrived in the warm, free draining gravels of Bloodwood and the first vintage yielding 650 litres of exciting varietal essence duly followed in April 1986. Over the last twenty years, they have carefully selected and planted those sites on their property which they believe offer the best potential  for the production of the high quality, cool climate fruit which is the foundation of all Bloodwood wine styles. The vineyard now is home to 21,274 Vinifera vines planted on their own roots and covering 8.072 Hectares of the best site in the Orange Region.
